Wedding In Spain, Gran Canaria, Cruz De Tejeda – Maria and Alberto
Sometimes it doesn’t matter where a wedding takes place, it’s the culture that surrounds it that makes it special. Normally if I said I was a Spain wedding photographer I’d be photographing weddings in Barcelona or Granada but when I talk about Maria and Alberto’s wedding it really feels like a Spanish wedding to me … except they got married in Gran Canaria. Maria is from Vilafranca del Penedès and Alberto’s from Gran Canaria, but they met in Barcelona. So it makes sense that they would marry in Gran Canaria. But it really felt like a Spanish wedding to me!
The hallmarks of a great wedding day
So what makes their wedding such a typically Spanish event? Well, there are a number of elements that can clearly be seen in their wedding album.
• The first is something that I’ve noticed when photographing Spanish weddings – the calm, dignified atmosphere of Alberto’s room as he got dressed for this most special day was a distinct contrast to the bustle and giggling in Maria’s room as she got ready. That’s something really distinctive about Spanish weddings that I’ve noticed on several occasions.
• The second thing is the relaxed vibe of their outdoor wedding ceremony – it felt like many weddings in Spain that I’ve attended as a professional wedding photographer. It’s hard to pin it down, but here’s something about a Spanish wedding that’s a perfect blend of emotion and relaxation, and it’s quite unique.
• The third thing was the party! There’s just nothing like watching the Spanish dance. They really let themselves go and of course they have the most amazing music to dance to. So after I’d taken Maria and Alberto off to the nearby forest to take some romantic couple photographs, we came back to the party for some lively activity, including cocktails, wild dancing and all the fun of a photo booth.
