Couple session in Canggu – Natalia and Sasha
Sometimes a couples session is truly unique, like the time I went to Canggu to photograph Natalia, and Sasha. They are from Russia but now they live on Canggu – and who wouldn’t if they could? But their reason for being in Canggu is very specific … they love to surf and Bali is a huge surfing island.
I knew that working with this couple as a Wedding Photographer Canggu would mean looking at their lifestyle as a huge part of their relationship. Which is why their couples photography session was going to feature the things that matter to them.
Canggu engagement photography
Canggu is an amazing place for a wedding photographers. Probably one of the most photogenic locations on earth. Which made it really easy to find the places that would feature in Natalia and Sasha’s photo-shoot. We began with a wonderful poolside session which really encapsulated their laid-back affection, and used some traditional Balinese architecture as a backdrop. We then moved onto a typical day for this surf-loving couple, heading for the waves on their usual form of transport, a Suzuki motorbike. Unlike some other couples photographs I’ve taken, there was no dressing up or going somewhere spectacular for Natalia and Sasha – just jeans and T-shirts and the road to the beach. Mind you, Bali is always spectacular, and the use of a couple of filters and some dramatic camera angles made the most of Bali’s dramatic sky-scape.
Overall, the atmosphere of this photoshoot was perfectly in keeping with Natalia and Sasha’s way of life, it conveys their easygoing natures and the intensity of their feelings for each other and, for me, it was a great opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Canggu and work my magic on its exotic landscape.
